Esperanza Cyber Charter School (ECCS) prepares students in grades Kindergarten through 12 to meet the challenges of living creatively and productively in an increasingly technologically sophisticated and interconnected world. ECCS will provide students with an academically rigorous yet flexible, online learning program that tailors learning experiences to each child through a combination of curriculum choices and virtual and in-person tutoring and counseling. ECCS is targeted toward underserved and at-risk students who have not always found success in traditional schools. ECCS places students on a pathway to post-secondary success.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required
  • Master’s Degree in education or related field
  • PA administrative certificate K12 Principal required
  • Minimum of three years of prior school principal experience
  • Familiarity with and experience interacting with Esperanza’s Hispanic faith-based community or similar urban education settings is preferred.
  • Teaching experience in cyber environment preferred

  • Current FBI fingerprints, PA Criminal, and Child Abuse background checks

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative and Leadership

  • Participate in weekly meetings with the CEO and other school leaders. 
  • Collaborate with the Supervisor of Curriculum & MTSS and Supervisor of Math & School Improvement to implement best practices in instruction schoolwide.
  • Collaborate with ELD and Special Education services.  Meet with the Special Education Director and ELD Coordinator weekly to discuss the needs and goals of the services provided.
  • Manage school climate, develop staff morale, and provide excellent customer service to parents.
  • Attend and participate in meetings of the Board of Trustees by creating, maintaining, and presenting the instructional reports.
  • Circulate (in-person and virtually) among staff and faculty throughout the day so that faculty and students can observe visible leadership in the school.

 

Teaching and Learning

  • Supervise the teaching and learning staff. Monitor the teaching methodology throughout subjects and formulate relevant professional development when needed. 
  • Meet informally bi-weekly with the Professional Learning Coordinator to provide direction for instructional coaching.
  • Coordinate a schedule of observation to include synchronous and asynchronous supervision and observations for the teachers to know when they are being observed and by whom. Conduct pre-observation and post-observation follow-up to the scheduled observations
  • Develop the end of year annual review for staff. Discuss end of year evaluations for all faculty with the CEO. Submit a recruitment strategy based on projected vacancies.
  • Create and implement a plan for the professional development of the faculty through in-service that meets the organization and individual needs of the faculty. The Professional Learning Coordinator will assist in this endeavor. Staff PD includes before the year begins, during the year, and monthly induction meetings.
  • Organize and lead weekly meetings with teaching staff to address the school programs' concerns. 
  • Work directly with teachers using the electronic grade book system, and collaborate with the Coordinator of Technology for training, program analysis, and installation.
  • Supervise the rollover of the school from year-to-year (beginning-of-year and end-of-year process).
  • Assist in developing a teacher struggling to write clear and attainable lesson plans in conjunction with the Professional Learning Coordinator.
  • Evaluate and recommend instructional technology and programs that will support program goals and create efficiencies for staff and students, assisted by the Coordinator of Technology.
  • Lead content, grade, and data meetings to discuss school and student progress
  • Collect and analyze passing/failure data to determine rates quarterly. Discuss with teachers who need coaching to improve practice as required.
  • Conduct disciplinary meetings with teaching staff as needed after collaboration with the CEO.
  • Assist in conducting interviews of prospective teaching staff in collaboration with the HR staff, other school leaders, and the CEO.
  • Collaborate with the FACE Department and Social Work Departments to design and implement all the face-to-face communication opportunities of the school with parents, including open houses, parent conferences, and Title I and special education parent workshops/trainings.

 

Operational and Compliance

  • Collaborate with the leadership team in the design of the school calendar each year. Monitor activities and calendar additions to ensure that events do not create conflict or detract from the quality of teaching and learning. 
  • Implements policies, procedures and/or processes for providing direction and/or complying with mandated requirements of federal, state, and local laws. 

 

SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of instructional technology standards for students and teachers
  • Best practices for online teaching and learning and digital curriculum development
  • Ability to communicate well in a group/team environment
  • Ability to craft well-written, data-rich reports

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working.
  • Constant hand, finger, and arm use, and excellent eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to hear clearly and speak intelligibly.
  • To occasionally function in activities involving walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and climbing stairs.
  • To occasionally stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to see and perform visual activities such as closing paperwork, using a computer monitor, reading, and writing.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to come onsite for all required days - 3-4 days a week.
